Boy Scouts
There's only one organization in the United States that has been an integral part of many children's lives for years and that's the Boy Scouts of America. Starting all the way back in 1910 over 100 million Americans have been part of this organization since it's inception. The Boy Scouts are also popular throughout the world through organizations like Scouts Canada and the World Organization of the Scout Movement. These organizations have the responsibility to teach young children and teens to be self reliant, respectable and to help them to develop character.
There are a number of different levels of Boy Scouts, which starts out at a young age with the Cub Scouts which are broken down into Tiger Cubs, Wolf Cubs, Bear Cubs and Webelos Scouts.

Early Boy Scouts uniforms resembled those worn by the U.S. Army, but in 1916 it was decided that civilians were not allowed to wear army uniforms, so a change was made. One of the most recognizable traits of all Boy Scouts uniforms from their inception was the neckerchief. Over the years, many different uniforms have been worn which included various badges that could be earned for different skills mastered and services performed. One of the biggest changes to the uniforms came in 1980 when a new Boy Scout Uniform was made designed by famous designer Oscar de la Renta. This design included a tan shirt that buttoned in the front, had pocket flaps on the front and shoulder epaulets. An olive green belt, olive green cap and olive green shorts or pants were also part of this uniform. This design was left pretty much unchanged until recently when new zip-off pants were introduced. In the U.S., a flag is also always attached to the sleeve of the shirt. A number of different insignia have been used as well throughout the years and to differentiate between various levels of boy scouts.
